Celebrate St David’s Day! 🎉

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! 🏴🐉

Every year on March 1st, Wales comes alive with celebrations for St David’s Day, honouring the country’s patron saint, Dewi Sant. It’s a day filled with pride, tradition, and plenty of Welsh spirit, where children dress in traditional Welsh costumes, people wear daffodils or leeks, and the red dragon flag flies high. From feasting on Welsh cakes to singing in school eisteddfods, St David’s Day is a wonderful time to embrace all things Cymru and remember St David’s famous words: “Do the little things”—a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Looking for some fun ways to mark the occasion with your kids? Here are some ideas:

🌼 Daffodil & Leek Crafts – Make daffodils from cut up egg boxes painted yellow or paper leeks to decorate your home!
🐉 Dress Up as a Welsh Dragon – Pop on something red and roar like the mighty Y Ddraig Goch!
🍪 Bake Some Welsh Cakes – Get the little ones involved in mixing, rolling, and taste-testing!
📖 Read a Welsh Story – Snuggle up with a tale of Gelert the Brave or some magical Mabinogion legends.
🏰 Visit a Castle – If you’re in Wales, take a trip to one of its many stunning castles!  Fun fact: There are more per square mile than anywhere else!

Celebrating Welsh Small Businesses 🛍️

We also love championing Welsh brands, and here are two of our favourites:

🦊 Fox and Lottie – Beautifully designed, organic baby and children's clothing with a wonderful emphasis on classic Welsh designs.  Expect to find the Welsh dragon and Daffodils on the most silky soft fabrics!

Dragon Pyjamas

🐯 Tiger Cub Prints – Gorgeous soft toys, nursery decor hand drawn animal prints by Husband and Wife duo - they make the most perfect gifts for little ones and have been seen in celebrity homes!  They are also running an offer of 20% off until Midnight on St Davids Day with code STDAVIDS20

This St David’s Day, why not support a Welsh small business while celebrating with your little ones? Diolch yn fawr for being part of our journey—we love bringing a little bit of Bibbilyboo magic to your family!

And whilst we at Bibbilyboo aren't Welsh, we do love to celebrate and have the perfect Dragon and Castle themed bibs fit for the occasion which you can shop here!
